Since 1996, Haydenshapes Surfboards has focused on designing innovative performance surfboards and surfboard constructions with quality and passion. Our mission today, is to provide surfers with quality performance designs and constructions that are fun and easy to surf, rejuvenating the love of surfing after each session.

Hayden began his shaping career at the age of 15, in Mona Vale, Australia, where he gained experience and learnt the craftsmanship of hand shaping surfboards.

Through the years of rapid technological growth, Hayden has always been an early adopter, leading him to create some innovative shapes and constructions that have been ridden and loved by the most elite surfers around the globe.

In the future, Haydenshapes plans to lead its own path of surfboard innovation and design. Through their passion and love of surfboards and surfing Hayden and the Haydenshapes team intend to experiment and develop their range of surfboards, to keep the stoke alive regardless of the generation.

The Hypto Krypto is the most versatile shape in the Haydenshapes range, enabling it to be ridden in waves from 1ft to 8ft. It paddles like a dream due to the volume and flatter rocker. You ride the Hypto Krypto on the open face, drawing fast, flowing lines with all the speed it provides.

The outline resembles an old school twin fin in the nose, yet pulls into a rounded pin tail which will give you plenty of hold in the bigger stuff, and provide a lot of curve around the back foot. You can use the wider, straighter outline forward on the board to give you speed down the line and the rounded pintail to draw tighter arcs in the pocket.

Although the rocker of the Hypto Krypto is flat, Hayden has snuck in a little extra lift in the entry to add some curve up front; this helps taking off late, or turning in the steeper sections of the wave. The design of the rocker has been focused around speed, and more speed! The Hypto has never been shaped as a quad because it is too fast already, you’ll find yourself making sections down the line that you would never expect to make.

The foil has plenty of volume around the chest and center area of the board, yet it refines out to a thinner, more pinched rail to keep the board connected to the wave. The concave runs from a rolled vee in the entry, to a slight single transitioning into a vee double out the tail, which gives the board great speed and control from rail to rail.

Overall the Hypto Krypto is the one stop board that you can travel all around the world having fun in average conditions, as well as taking to the barrel and open face when the swell pumps!

Sammy is radical dude. The first thing people notice is his hair and distinctive style both on and off his board. Sammy’s love of the classic Chuck Taylor All Star, which he usually kits out with fat laces, inspired the CTAS Pro Skate.

The CTAS Pro Skate has the classic stylings of the original All Star, but inside has the same technology and features that sets Converse Skateboarding sneakers apart; Lunarlon insoles, abrasion resistant canvas, and All Star traction rubber. Like the sneaker he inspired, there is a lot more to Sammy underneath his distinctive exterior.

Follow Converse Ambassador Sammy Baca through his day as he kicks it with his son, cleans out a backyard pool, gets a gnarly nose-grind in the deep end, and sparks off a session at the skatepark with his friends, before heading home at sunset.

Well after what seems like a long break from competition the women & men of the ASP are set to get back to work at THE RIO PRO.  This time last year I was just arriving back home from 6 weeks in Brazil and I can honestly tell you Rio is one of the raddest cities I have ever been too. I was able to see the two venues that the boys and girls will be surfing and they are good spots to tests the surfers and entertain the spectators.  If I had the opportunity to go to one stop on the tour as a spectator this would be it. Brazil is EPIC.

Now lets get down to business, FANTASY SURFER.  Now we’re two events in and I’m doing horrible so take my comments with a grain of salt but these waves are built for airs and progressive surfing.  Make sure to update both teams because the ladies are also surfing at this event.  Some big names have pulled out due to injuries and there is a short list of wildcards and replacements.  The three big names to drop are John John Florence, Owen Wright and Steph Gilmore. For the first time ever I’ve actually got a solid representation of Brazilian surfers on my team and I feel confident that they will represent their country well.  I’ve left most of the expensive old guards on the beach for this event and picked a roster of young, progressive, and competitively less skilled surfers to do my bidding (it hasn’t worked this year yet but I’m gonna keep trying).

IT’S TRUE!!!! PIONEERS IS OPENING UP A NEW LOCATION IN SALISBURY MASSACHUSETTS!!!!

We are very excited about this new venture and have so much to tell you!!! First off nothing is changing with the North Hampton location, we will be here, like always, to provide you with THE BEST SERVICE on the seacoast for all things SURF, SKATE, & SNOW.

Our new Salisbury location will feature a full service surf and skate shop and…… a cafe!!! We will be serving awesome coffee, bagels, and a whole menu of tasty and healthy breakfast and lunch offerings!!! The new shop will also focus on SURF and S.U.P. lessons, rentals, and tours.

The Salisbury location is going to come out SWINGING this year. We’re working on our events calendar but just to throw a few things out there so you know it’s good….. Volcom is coming to hang out with pro athletes, food, tons of free tees and hats, and good times!!!  Global Surf will be having a surf and sup demo in mid june. We’ll also be doing demos with Focus SUP as well. There will be some mini ramp contests and surf contests going down as well.  GOOD TIMES FOR SURE!!!

Groundswell surf DVD is Chris Malloy’s follow up to 180 South. Surfers Dan Malloy, Trevor Gordon and Pete Devries set sail on a 68 foot sailboat guided by the Raincoast Conservation Foundation into British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest where a pipeline and oil tanker proposal looms. The team explores waves and a rainforest full of life while learning of the potential irreversible consequences of this project from local First Nations leaders. Groundswell beautifully and profoundly captures the spirit of this wild place and the passion of the Heiltsuk people who are committed to protecting it.

The Loaded Chubby Unicorn is alive… IT’S ALIVE!!! Loaded spent years upon years developing this board. They were testing downhill shapes and technology before downhill was even popular! Well, downhill has always been pretty rad but you get the picture. The Loaded Chubby Unicorn is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the downhill and freeride community. When you stand on the board it feels as if all the features are really in the perfect places. The W-concave sits perfectly in the middle of the deck leaving plenty of flat space for your front and back feet when you want to break your tuck and bust out a slide. The nose and tail aren’t huge but they are very functional, they let you release your inner mythical beast! Just having kicktails in general is a good idea; 50mph kickflips would be the coolest thing in the world! With the Chubby Unicorn something like that is definitely a possibility.

This board really locks you in so we set ours up for downhill. When setup with slightly harder durometer, hard-lipped wheels the Chubby Unicorn is really, really fun. This board gives you a higher level of control so when you run wheels that would generally lean more towards “icing out,” you are left with the potential to stay in control and slide bigger and further than you ever have before. The Loaded Chubby Unicorn was made for speed and with this board under your feet you are bound to do big things!
